History of the Chamber

Chile and the UK have a shared history,
connected through time and distance, united by their love for exploration.

In challenging times BritCham has fostered strong bonds,

Timeline

1917 – June 25, First meeting of the Chamber in Valparaíso
1918 – The Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce in the Republic of Chile is incorporated into the United Kingdom
1922 – Publication of the first Chilean Economic Report
1927 – The Chamber has offices in Iquique, Antofagasta, Concepción and Valdivia, in addition to Valparaíso and Santiago
1956 – The Chamber moves to Santiago
1991 – First British Ambassador Cup Golf Tournament
2004 – The Chilean-British Chamber moves to offices in the British Embassy
2007 – Publication of the first edition of Doing Business in Chile, by the Legal Committee
2009 – First Recognition in Environmental Innovation, event held by the Sustainability Committee
2013 – First English Day organized by the Education Committee. The Corporate Governance Committee is added to the list of committees
2016 – 25th Golf Tournament
2017 – 100 year anniversary of the Chamber
2018 – Princess Anna visits the Chamber during the Environmental Innovation Award ceremony
2019 – The Chamber begins the transformation to a more digital and online environment. The III Women’s Leadership Summit is held
2020 – During the Covid-19 pandemic, the transformation is complete, new committees arise and the work is done 100% online. The Technology, Innovation and Science is added to the list of committees.
2021 – The Human Capital and Finance and Capital Markets committees are added to the list of stable Economy, Sustainability, Education, Legal, Corporate Governance and Technology, Innovation and Science committees, completing 8 active committees.
2022 – We launch a new corporate identity for the Chamber and a new Health Committee. We achieved gender parity on the Board of Directors with 5 female directors and 5 male directors.
2023 – 30th Golf Tournament
