Although Chile leads the regional rankings (according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalpropertyrightsindex.org\/countries#compare-panel\">Intellectual Property Rights Index<\/a>), it is still viewed by the international community as wanting in many areas, particularly in relation to piracy, copyright and patent protection.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2021 the so-called \u201cShort\u201d Intellectual Property Law was approved in Chile and came into force on the 5th of July 2021. The specific objectives of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarkemodet.com\/en\/news-posts\/chile-approves-new-intellectual-property-law\/\">this legislation<\/a> were to improve protection and compliance with these rights, and to simplify registration procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Chile is a member of several international treaties on intellectual property, including the Berne Convention, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (TPC), the Trademark Law Treaty (TLT), and the WTO\u2019s TRIPS Agreement. Chile also participates in the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Chilean authorities responsible for overseeing Intellectual Property issues are:<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inapi.cl\">National Institute of Industrial Property<\/a> &#8211; for industrial property rights such as trademarks and patents,<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propiedadintelectual.gob.cl\">Chilean Intellectual Property Department<\/a> of the Ministry of Culture, Art and Heritage &#8211; for copyrights,<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nic.cl\">NIC Chile<\/a>, the entity in charge of the .cl Domain Name Registry<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Disculpa, pero esta entrada est\u00e1 disponible s\u00f3lo en English.
