The United Kingdom brought its full innovation offering to EXPOMIN 2025

A new edition of EXPOMIN took place in Chile from 22 to 25 April, with the United Kingdom making a strong presence at Espacio Riesco, represented by the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham Chile) and the UK Embassy.
Over the four days of the event, the UK Great Zone (UK pavilion) was officially inaugurated by Chile’s Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, the British Ambassador to Chile, Louise de Sousa, the Executive Director of BritCham Chile, Elle Denton, and the Chief Executive of Anglo American Chile and EXPOMIN, who performed the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The UK Great Zone stood out for its diverse programme of activities, ranging from informative talks on mining challenges and opportunities to tastings of traditional British products.
Nine companies participated in the UK Great Zone throughout EXPOMIN week: Aggreko, Bombas de Pozo, Brigade, Bupa, Hesco, Marsh McLennan, StepChange Global, UMS and Watson-Marlow. These organisations showcased their services to dozens of visitors over the four-day event.
BritCham Chile’s Executive Director, Elle Denton, highlighted the positive environment of the event and underscored the importance of innovation and sustainable mining for the United Kingdom.
“I feel very proud and honoured to have been part of this successful new edition of EXPOMIN 2025, where we were present with our UK Great Zone. Together with our partner companies, we showcased the latest advancements in British mining innovation and technology—an area of strategic importance that strengthens the longstanding ties between the United Kingdom and Chile,” she stated.
During the week of Latin America’s most important mining exhibition, three talks were held within the UK Great Zone. The first, led by Anglo American Chile, addressed the key challenges of sustainable mining today; the second, organised by Codelco, focused on supply dynamics within the mining ecosystem; and the third, hosted by SICEP, explored value creation across the mining supply chain.
The UK Great Zone also featured British tea and whisky tastings, which were warmly received by attendees, offering them the opportunity to experience traditional UK flavours. Additionally, the second day of the exhibition was enlivened by a performance from traditional bagpipers, bringing Scottish music to the halls of Espacio Riesco.
The British Ambassador to Chile, Louise de Sousa, actively participated in various activities throughout the four days, strengthening engagement with exhibitors in the UK Great Zone and hosting organisers and participants at a reception celebrating mining development, bilateral trade relations, and future collaboration opportunities.
