A new session of BritCham Chile’s Sustainability Committee addressed the challenges and progress of Chile’s environmental assessment system.

June 24 ,2025

Santiago, June 24, 2025. The British-Chilean Chamber of Commerce (BritCham Chile) held a new session of its Sustainability Committee, bringing together partners and representatives from the business and public sectors in a discussion with Valentina Durán, Executive Director of the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA). The event focused on reviewing current challenges, ongoing projects, and the level of compliance with the country’s environmental impact assessment system, as well as the innovative actions the agency is leading to modernize its service.

During her presentation, Valentina Durán provided a comprehensive overview of the role of the SEA in the context of the State’s environmental commitments and the growing citizen demand for greater transparency and efficiency. She also highlighted the main areas of modernization the agency is promoting, such as the digitalization of processes, strengthening early participation, and collaborative work with other institutions.

The event was also an opportunity to strengthen the link between the public and private sectors around sustainable management. In this context, Arturo Errázuriz, Director of RIGS and former President of the BritCham Sustainability Committee, extended an invitation to all those present to participate in the 16th edition of the Sustainability Innovation and Management Recognition Program, an initiative that seeks to highlight and reward good business practices in environmental and social matters.

The session was attended by Elle Denton, Executive Director of BritCham Chile; Laura Landeta, President of the Sustainability Committee; and Arturo Errázuriz himself, who highlighted the importance of creating spaces for technical and strategic dialogue that contribute to a more responsible business culture aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

BritCham Chile especially thanks Valentina Durán for her valuable presentation and willingness, reaffirming its commitment to promoting sustainable practices, cross-sector collaboration, and strengthening the role of the Sustainability Committee as an active platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences in the field of sustainability.
