Santiago, July 2025 — The British-Chilean Chamber of Commerce (BritCham Chile), through its Sustainability Committee, held a prominent session last Thursday entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Environmental Monitoring” at the offices of our partner Arauco. The event brought together authorities, experts from the public and private sectors, and representatives of member companies to address the impact and opportunities offered by artificial intelligence (AI) in environmental management and oversight processes.
During the session, the growing role of AI in environmental monitoring was discussed, exploring how these emerging technologies can contribute to addressing current environmental challenges in Chile, with a special emphasis on industrial sustainability and strengthening oversight mechanisms.
The event featured prominent speakers:
Marie Claude Plumer, Superintendent of the Environment (SMA);
Francisco Donoso, Head of the Technology, Monitoring, and Information Department at SMA; and
Felipe Saavedra, CEO of Celteno.
Their presentations offered a comprehensive look at the technological advances currently being implemented in the country to improve environmental management and optimize data-driven decision-making.
BritCham Chile’s Executive Director, Elle Denton, led the event, along with Laura Landeta, president of the Sustainability Committee, and Christian Rodríguez, secretary of the same committee. On behalf of the Chamber, we deeply thank our guests for their valuable contributions and all the partners who actively participated in this opportunity for dialogue and learning.
These types of meetings reaffirm BritCham Chile’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices and strengthening public-private collaboration in the areas of the environment, innovation, and technology.
