The Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce held the final event of the year for its Finance and Capital Markets Committee, part of the “Chilean Economic and Political Perspectives in Election Times” series. The session took place at the offices of our partner HSBC and was led by the committee’s president, Pierre-Julien Loriquet, and its vice president, José Miguel Diez. The discussion was highlighted by the participation of Senator Ricardo Lagos Weber, spokesperson for presidential candidate Jeannette Jara.
During the event, the main challenges and opportunities facing the country in an electoral context that demands leadership, management skills, and a policy focused on building consensus were addressed. Among the topics analyzed were the need to improve productivity, promote new investment incentives, strengthen the development of the lithium industry, and continue promoting green hydrogen. The complex global landscape, characterized by rapid change and increasing uncertainty, was also discussed.
Senator Lagos Weber’s participation adds to the distinguished contributions the committee’s series has received throughout the year. Previously, this forum welcomed Beatriz Hevia, a member of José Antonio Kast’s campaign team, and Alejandro Weber, economic advisor to former presidential candidate Evelyn Matthei. These diverse perspectives allowed for a comprehensive and inclusive program, designed to provide BritCham Chile members with a broad understanding of the country’s political and economic context.
With this event, BritCham Chile concludes its annual cycle, which, together with the CEO Vision series, laid a solid foundation for the committee’s strategic content development in 2024. The Chamber expresses its gratitude to all members and attendees for their participation throughout the year, reaffirming its commitment to fostering spaces for dialogue, analysis, and collaboration that contribute to the country’s development. BritCham Chile looks forward to reconnecting with its community for a new series of activities next year.
