Santiago, May 2025. As part of its strategic activities, the Human Capital Committee of the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham Chile) held the session “Diversity and Inclusion from a Labor Relations Perspective”, a space for dialogue aimed at promoting a more just, respectful, and inclusive organizational culture in companies throughout the country. The session featured outstanding presentations by Jaime Parada, Managing Partner at Equalite Partner, and Carolina González, Inclusion Specialist at Inchcape Chile.
During the event, the speakers addressed the progress and setbacks in diversity and inclusion matters, both nationally and internationally. They highlighted the concept of “cultural tension” that arises between the natural perceptions of the population and new ways of being and existing within an organizational model. They also shared key insights on the impact of social, legislative, and cultural changes on labor relations. The importance of active diversity management was emphasized as a central element for the sustainability and competitiveness of organizations in an increasingly demanding global environment.
One of the main focuses of the discussion was the need to foster a culture of respect and empathy within companies, especially during times marked by profound transformations and challenges such as automation, migration, and social movements. In this context, the role of human resources departments was highlighted as key change agents that must promote inclusive and sustainable policies.
Both Jaime and Carolina shared the main points of national and international current events, as well as practical experiences and real cases, underlining that the path to inclusion is neither linear nor immediate, but essential for achieving equitable work environments. Concrete strategies were also discussed to help move toward workplaces where all individuals, regardless of their identity, background, or abilities, can fully thrive.
Through initiatives like this, BritCham Chile reaffirms its commitment to promoting good business practices, developing human talent, and strengthening an inclusive culture in the corporate world. The Human Capital Committee will continue to create spaces for dialogue and learning, aligned with the values that inspire its binational work and its vision for the country’s future.
