With the aim of analyzing how to accelerate technology transfer between universities, research centers, and companies, the Technology, Innovation, and Science Committee (CTIC) of BritCham Chile held the event “Technology Transfer, Innovation, and Academia-Industry Collaboration” on July 1st. This event brought together representatives from the innovation ecosystem to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing Chile in this area.

The day featured presentations by Rodrigo Cortés, Executive Director of AMTC at the University of Chile, and Elba Vivanco, Strategic Director of the Biotechnology Center at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV), who shared their perspectives on the role of science, technology, and intersectoral collaboration in developing innovative solutions with productive impact.

During the event, the importance of strengthening technology transfer mechanisms to transform the knowledge generated in universities and research centers into applied innovation, investment, and new opportunities for economic development was discussed. Experiences of collaboration between academia and the private sector were also discussed, along with the incentives and conditions necessary to foster greater collaboration between these two worlds.

The conversation was moderated by Joanna Pérez, president of the Technology, Innovation, and Science Committee of BritCham Chile, and Francisco Medina, the organization’s undersecretary, who guided the dialogue and promoted the exchange of experiences among the participants.

Chile possesses world-class scientific and technological capabilities; however, one of the main challenges remains transforming this knowledge into scalable innovation that contributes to the country’s competitiveness, the diversification of its production matrix, and its integration into high-value-added global industries.

Through these types of meetings, BritCham Chile reaffirms its commitment to promoting spaces for dialogue and collaboration that strengthen the national innovation ecosystem and generate greater opportunities for sustainable development in the country.
